This line of thinking is one of the most common topics that I hear from people. This is because most people think that the answer to all their questions is to go to the doctor.
The truth is, doctors are just as likely to give you the wrong diagnosis as they are to give you the right one. If you’re having a persistent cold or allergies, your doctor isn’t going to tell you that you have bronchitis. But if you have a fever that lasts for three days and you’re only out of the hospital for three days, your doctor is going to tell you that you have viral pneumonia.
The problem is that doctors are not really the best at explaining complex medical matters. They have the tendency to repeat what they know to be true and then add their own little bit of extra information.
What happens is that the doctors will start with the “most likely explanation” which is usually “stress and lack of fluids.” But they can be wrong. Sometimes they’ll start by telling you that your fever has been caused by viral pneumonia. Sometimes they’ll tell you that it’s stress and lack of fluids. They might also say that you only have a cold, but that could just be because your throat is sore.
But they’re usually wrong. The docs usually make the mistake of asking the patient for the “real” reason they’re not feeling better. And that’s when the conversation often starts to devolve into a conversation about the doctors.
The doctors are the ones who know the answer. They do know what the illness is, and they know what causes it. What they don’t know, however, is the cause. If it’s stress, they’ll tell you the stress is the illness. If it’s lack of fluids, you’ll ask them what is wrong with you. If it’s a cold, they’ll tell you that your cold is the illness.
Of course they will tell you. And of course they will also tell you that you should relax, get plenty of fluids, and eat a good breakfast every day. And you wont believe it when you go to the doctor.
But as you may have guessed, they wont stop telling you how wrong they are. They will also tell you that you should still go to the doctor, because there is a cure. And youll also tell them that you dont trust them, because theyre the ones who have the disease. And youll also tell them that you are going to go to the doctor, because you know that theyve been lying to you.
The reason you go to the doctor is because they dont trust you. They have been lied to. Theyre the ones who have the disease. And you will go to the doctor because theyre the ones who dont trust you. You will go to the doctor because it will be easier to trust them. And the fact you dont trust them will make the doctor the friendliest place to go if you need a friend.
You’ve probably had a doctor who’s been very nice to you. They’ve done a few things for you. You dont know them, and you’rent sure you want to. And so they’ve been nice to you, but youve been wary and then suspicious and then youve been wary and theyve lied to you. And it’s really hard to trust someone when theyre lying to you.
